The club is growing and not even started yet
Well here I am, a month before my club opens and I’ve got 7 potential students (6 of them definite).
I have put some leaflets out at a school nearby where one of my fellow instructors has done a demo day because I wasn’t available and as it’s out of his area he was expecting me to put my adverts in the school.
Anyway I have got to pop by to the leisure centre later today and give them some more information about me and then I’m going to take the day off promotion work after giving a few cards out in the local park on it’s relaunch day. I don’t think there will be many takers there but it’s worth a go, even if I only get 5 cards out it’s 5 potentials.
I need to get some information sheets typed up now for my club, with training times and a little bit of info about surrounding clubs. I think that’s the next thing I should do.
New Club
Ok so here I am with my nice shiny new club all registered, no members yet and I’ve only provisionally booked a venue but I have got a few thoughts about where I am going to get all my nice shiny new students from and I have made up an interest sheet and a 3-fold leaflet ready to print off and give out to lots of unsuspecting kiddies with doting parents who are just wanting to get rid of them for a bit on a Monday evening.
And here I am ready, willing and able to teach them discipline, self defence, fitness and how to play bulldog properly.
I’ve got a nice cheap spacious room in the local leisure centre which is half the price of every other room I’ve seen around this area and much much nicer and it has a wall length mirror down one side… perfect!!!
If I can’t cram 30 kids in there I’ll be doing something wrong
Oh yes please let me assure you about health and safety… I’ve done the training, the room is more than big enough for 30 kids it’s just that I think 30 is enough to keep an eye on at one time and as I suspect that I’ll be starting with less then 10 it’s really a non issue at the moment. Put it this way, the room is big enough to hold some great running around games in post training and enough room for 20 adults to spar in at once never mind kids.
Anyway as you will probably know if you read my other blog, I have a bad knee at the moment. My Chinese Physio says “no Kung Foo” which is cool because I do TaeKwon-Do not Kung Foo. I know what he means though and am taking it easy on the affected leg. Please don’t worry about me, it’s not going to drop off yet and I am totally fit to teach kids not to kill each other in a nice friendly controlled manner.
So here it is:
Wilmslow Leisure Centre
5pm to 6pm Monday evenings.
Kids classes (5 to 12 years) and just turn up if you are interested.
If any adults want to train I can direct you to a great adults class, theres loads in the area but until I get too many kids I won’t mind taking on a couple of adults too for trial sessions.
Oh yes and first lesson free!!!
TaeKwon-Do
This is my training diary.
First my beginnings, I started training at GTUKs Wilmslow TaeKwon-Do club which I am an assistant instructor at now for kids and the Adults classes have been temporarily disbanded. This is due to lack of students, it wasn’t to get rid of me, honest. There would have been more effective ways (It wouldn’t have been easy to find them though as I’m loyal, a bit of a Taekwon-Do nutcase and work really hard at it)
Since I was a blue belt I have been assisting my instructor at kids classes mostly but also in adults classes along with the other black belts, the difference being with the kids classes that I know all the kids and I take over class in holidays to give my instructor a well earned break. The poor thing is actually getting more than a week off this year!
Anyway this is about me and TaeKwon-Do and will be eventually about my new class also as I have just booked a room to open a new class in and thought it might be nice to write about that and eventually have a blog site where allthe classes kids and thier parents can contribute and link it to this one.
Anyway here goes……
